• What makes Millar Tender Solutions different from other bid consultancies?

There are some fantastic bid consultancies out there, some of whom I have worked with and would highly recommend.

When working with myself, you are guaranteed direct personal support - not an associate.

Every piece of work is tailored to your organisations needs and I am extremely passionate about supporting bidders through the complexities of the procurement process (and to helping buyers see those complexities so they can buy better in future).

I bring over 20 years of buyer-side experience, so I know exactly how bids are evaluated and how procurement processes should run.

  • How much does it cost to work with Millar Tender Solutions

Costs depend on the level of support you need - whether it’s a one-hour call, a bid review or full bid coordination.

I work from a day rate and I’m transparent with pricing and agree a clear fee before we start.

As a guide (because I hate when people are vague on price), my day rate is from £500 per day. My most popular ‘get bid ready’ consultancy package is £2500 for 5 days of consultancy. Bid management really does depend on the tender in hand, number of questions etc.

If budget is an issue we can look at more accessible options, like review only (generally one day) or an hour chat (£75).

  • What if we need ongoing bid support on a regular basis

I can work with you on a retainer basis if you have an ongoing pipeline of work you would like my support on.

This attracts a small discount, as it provides me with certainty and it allows me to prioritise you.

If this sounds like something you would like to consider, please reach out for a chat to discuss. There is a minimum commitment of three days per month for an initial period of three months, to benefit from this arrangement including discounted rate.

  • Can you help if we’ve never bid before?

    Absolutely.

Many of my clients are new to public sector tendering. I really enjoy working with clients who want to prepare in advance and get ‘bid ready’, it certainly takes a little bit of the panic away once the live bid comes in and this would always be my recommendation for new clients.

Having said that, it is possible for me to support you on a live bid without the pre-work - this will depend entirely on timescales, capacity (on both sites), tender requirements and existing evidence/content.

Importantly, I’ll be realistic about what I think we can achieve given timeline.

  • What sort of support do you offer for buyers?

    It varies.

My background is in public procurement and now working with bidders offers a unique insight into the challenges on both sides of procurement. As a result I’m able to support buyers to improve their processes, take a more proactive approach to supplier engagement or review key documents/policies.

I can provide hands-on support for example reviewing tender documents, supporting tender evaluation, coordinating supplier engagement activity; or provide a more strategic input reviewing strategy, policy and procedures.

  • Where are you based and what area do you cover?

I’m based in Scotland and work with bidders and buyers based across the whole of the UK.

Most of my work is done remotely from my home in Bathgate, West Lothian.

I do like to meet local clients at least for a coffee at some point but I’m flexible to your preferences.

I can deliver training, workshops and consultancy sessions in person if that’s preferred depending on your location.

  • Do you offer a review only option?

    Yes!

This is absolutely an option and something lots of previous clients have asked for. Generally, this would be a one-day assignment (£500) but this depends on the specific tender in hand, volume of content to review etc.

Please see under Services for a more detailed explanation of the bid review approach.
